Enjoy your visit to St. George, the largest city in southern Utah and one of the most popular and safest resort communities in the Southwestern U.S. Check in to Hampton Inn, St. George to begin your adventure.  There are some beautiful places to check out. One note of interest for cyclists is that the city has invested millions of dollars in its scenic pathways. Enjoy this area using the scenic paths from your bicycle. Another popular place to visit is the St. George dinosaur Discovery Park. It is an excellent place to see, if you are a Dinosaur fan. Vacation Bicycling welcome dinner and get together scheduled for 5:00pm.

  • Chicken Marsala – Lightly breaded chicken breast with creamy marsala wine sauce, served with garlic mashed potatoes and sautéed vegetables. Side salad.
  • Filet Mignon - 8 oz center cut filet mignon with a brandy peppercorn sauce, served with baby potato medley, seasonal vegetables.  Side salad.
  • Rustic Penne Pasta – Penne noodles tossed in our house made Rosa sauce and topped of gorgonzola, asiago and mozzarella. Side salad.
  • Wonderful Halibut – Lightly breaded in a seasoned flour with sliced almond, served with homemade rice pilaf, sautéed vegetables.  Side salad.

Day 2, Sunday - April 7, 2019

The day will start with a van ride to the Thunder Mountain Trailhead of the Red Canyon/Canyon Bike Trail near Bryce Canyon then we ride to the hotel and Bryce Canyon National Park. We will experience a beautiful bike ride while riding Red Canyon (a National Recreation Area) heading west to east. This must-do path travels through scenic red canyons in an area referred to as “Little Bryce.” We will see many beautiful landscapes from behind our handlebars. This path is well maintained, free of obstacles and will allow us to appreciate our surroundings. We will end our ride with one of the most spectacular views from Inspiration Point in Bryce Canyon National Park before riding the last few miles to our hotel.

Day 3, Monday - April 8, 2019

Be sure to get an early start for your second night at the Bryce Canyon Grand. Today we will be riding to Rainbow Point or take the SAG vehicle to Rainbow Point and ride back to the hotel. Rainbow Point is a must see. Pictures cannot even describe the beauty. We will see many wild flowers, other beautiful foliage and scenic views along the way. We may even see a pronghorn or mule deer on your ride. This ride is amazing. Some people may ride to one of the many trailheads and hike, taking advantage of the 65 miles of hiking trails offering close encounters or other adventures.

Bicycling Route: 0 miles, staying at the hotel; 20 miles riding to the end of Bryce Canyon at Rainbow Point; or taking the SAG vehicle to Rainbow Point and then riding 20 miles from Rainbow point; or 40 miles riding to and from Rainbow Point.

Van to our accommodations at the Cedar City Hampton Inn. From the hotel we will ride out and back on the East Bench Trail + Coal Creek Trail in Cedar City that allows visitors to view the crimson canyons and see many majestic viewpoints. Don’t forget your camera! Visit one of the most unique state parks in Utah at the Frontier Homestead State Park ($4.00): Relive the pioneer and early industrial history of Cedar City, Iron County and southwest Utah through hands-on activities, an extensive horse-drawn wagon collection, historic buildings, sawmill and replica blast furnace. Dinner with the group.

Experience a Free Day. Get ready for some of the best views in the world at Zion National Park!  Van to Zion, staying at the Springdale, UT Hampton Inn. Optional: Ride your bike from the hotel on Valley Road/Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Bring your camera to take amazing pictures of the views within Zion. It is unforgettable! Though technically a free day, we are staying 1.5 miles from the entrance of Zion national park. You can ride your bike on Zion Canyon Scenic Drive that only allows bicycles and the National Park busses on the route. Of course, you can take a break from riding and ride a shuttle bus from across the street from the hotel to the Zion National Park Visitor Center and then catch another bus for the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive tour.

Bicycling Route:  "Free Day" to ride on your own. 0 miles, staying at the hotel; 3 miles, riding on your own to and from the visitor center; or 18 miles riding on your own from the hotel to the end and back of Zion Canyon Scenic Drive. Due to National Park restrictions, we cannot offer SAG support within Zion National Park, but the busses have bicycle racks in case of a mechanical problem, if riding on the Zion Canyon Scenic Drive.

Enjoy your final day in St. George with the Snow Canyon Loop. We are going counter clockwise because it is the easiest route. The route follows Hwy 18 north to Snow Canyon and travels through the State Park.  Scenery is great along the entire route, but the most spectacular part is within Snow Canyon State Park. For a shorter route, just ride into Snow Canyon, as far as you want, then return the way you came or take the SAG vehicle to Snow Canyon State Park and ride back. As always you will take great pictures. It would be difficult to take a bad picture in this paradise. Enjoy your final dinner with your friends at the George's Corner in St. George.

Bicycling Route: 0 miles, staying at the hotel; or 17 miles, taking the SAG vehicle to Snow Canyon State Park and then riding back to the hotel; or 31 miles riding the complete Snow Canyon Loop through Snow Canyon State park. [The ride is 80% on bike paths and 20% road riding with very wide streets to get to the Snow Canyon bike path.]

George's Corner

- George Pace owned and operated the Big Hand Cafe, which stood on the same corner as the current restaurant, during the 1930s and 40s. It was located at the only stop light in town and quickly became a St. George icon with waitresses hollering, "bus in" when the Greyhound Bus would come into town.

Please note all trip information is based on previous trips and/or contracted lodging and restaurants and is subject to change based on availability or specific trip needs.
 
Riding difficulty:
Riders who are comfortable riding at least 10 miles per hour should have an enjoyable trip. The routes are on bike paths, bicycle designated roads and on bike ride share roads. We designed the routes to have as little climbing as necessary. Please see the daily routes descriptions for additional information. Of course, if a rider is tired or does not feel like riding, the SAG vehicle will transport the rider to the hotel. All routes are on paved bike paths and bicycle recommended roads. All riders may ride at their own pace, slow or fast.
 
Arriving by automobile:
Drive to the Hampton Inn St. George, 53 River Road, St. George, Utah 84790, leaving your car at the hotel for the duration of the trip.
 
Arriving by Plane:
Fly into Las Vegas Airport McCarran Airport (LAS) and then take the St. George Shuttle to the hotel, https://www.stgshuttle.com; or fly directly into St. George, Utah (SGU) Airport and take ground transportation to the hotel.
 
Deposit:
  • $200 to reserve your spot and the remainder due 45 days before the trip start.

  • If you have an America the Beautiful Interagency Pass (Annual / Senior / Military / Access / Volunteer Pass) with valid ID, entrance fees are waived for the pass-holder and up to 3 additional adults, provided they are on a bicycle and simultaneously enter Bryce Canyon or Zion National Parks; otherwise there is an additional $15 entry fee per person for each park. Also, there is a $4 entrance fee (for up to 8 people) to enter Snow Canyon State Park.
